ABOUT ME:

My first guitar…actually it was a ukulele…I remember the way it felt in my hands. I remember thinking “wow, this is…wow!” I was three years old.
Since then there have been many more guitars and sad to say, more than a few more years but it still holds the “wow” factor for me.

I have had great opportunities over the years and have played in many good bands. The years hold so many cherished memories…my first band in ‘74 BLACK CROSS, a basement band with my older brother Tim on the drums…the endless Saturdays at “guitar lessons” with my teacher and mentor ROY WATTS…my first paid gig at the age of 15 with the band BACKSTAGE…staring at the money in my hand…the “wow” factor was turned up to 11! My first studio sessions…the first time I heard my guitar being played on the radio...my first road gig…opening up for VINCE NEIL, for LIVE.

All this time my friend the guitar was there with me. I do think of it as a separate entity. It speaks to me and takes me to that place that is both familiar and uncharted, a place where the “wow” factor still lives.

TOM SHIRRA BASS/VOCALS

Born in 1963 in Bridgeport Connecticut began playing bass at the age of 12. Before long he was working gigs at parties and weddings, by 16 playing the club circuits. In his high school years he was accepted into the Educational Center for the Arts for jazz and improvisation where he began to work with world-class musicians. After high school he went right into playing, joining area symphony orchestras and various jazz and club bands in New York City and New England. Joining the Musicians Union allowed him to play with even more world players. Gigs as one of the house bands in Atlantic City's Trumps plaza where he shared a dressing room with all the major acts that lead to many impromptu jam sessions and more playing opportunities closed that chapter of playing.

The road was calling and he found himself traveling with bands such as Bill Haley's Comets, the Riviera's (California Sun) and others. A few years of on the road traveling all over North America, found him later back in Connecticut/New York working studio gigs (sound tracks), clubs, and live radio morning shows with Smith and Barber from WPLR in New Haven. During this time Tom began leading bands and acting as a booking agent for others. While on the road he found the west coast of Florida, the year round riding conditions and the great fishing brought him to Florida for good in 1991. Things were slow at first but before long he began playing with various bands again, you may never know where you will find him playing, filling in with anyone that he knows to keep busy.

Though Tom has worked with many world-class musicians and groups, here in Florida he has worked with Haines Road Band, Plaid Rabbitt, Partners In Crime, The Big Dogs, Sawgrass Flats, 3 Green Teeth, Michael Halo, Dark Horse, and RockUs.
